Tools

It is really surprising to know that there are so many free online productivity tool sofware downloads available. One just needs time and knowhow to find them.
Like the Google Docs website. This would certainly be a good way for everyone to get updated correct version of a letter or document and for everyone to have input or say before finalisation and publising of same. Could be used for staff meeting agendas, posters and newsletters.
I have created my document in Google Docs, hope it worked.
Maybe the slide shows on internet could be the end of overheads for talks.

Mashups

"With a Little Help from my Friends" on my second attempt I published my calendar. The first picture is so beautifully applicable to today, I left it there.

The Big Huge Tabs website is great. Would love to have a digital camera to create my own jigsaw puzzles from pictures. There are many possibilities for use in making posters. creating advertisers for coming events and other uses for our Libraries. Google Maps could be very helpful for visitors - showing them their destination or printing off for ourselves when visiting other places. Keir Clarke seems to go to Virtual Tourism where he or other people post their travel information. My computer will not access the Star Viewer site.

Library Thing

This is a practise go

Podcasts

Have now learned that " Podcasts" is all about audio content.
The Denver Public Library Podcasts web page is good for kids, ABC is also good for downloading audios. This would be a good way to listen to author talks, hear news and would be very handy to download to an Ipod for use when travelling.
I don't know that our Library would use podcasting, although occasionally OK for storytime or if a guest speaker didn't turn up for their talk then maybe an impromptu dash to a podcasting site would fill in.

Answer Boards

I certainly like the Yahoo!7 Answers web site also Wiki Answers Site.

A test of knowledge, searching and reference skills can be practised on some of the questions here, that is if you have time. Answering reference enquiries on Slam the Boards would be a great way of learning yourself and helping others but for myself, I would prefer to "Ask a Librarian" at the State Libraries and get help that way.

As many library patrons are older I wonder how they would be able to find the appropriate web page to ask their question and receive an answer. Most people wand their answers ASAP and not have to wait the month as may be the future case here.

Tagging

Never heard of folksonomy or taxonomy and don' t know anything about bookmarking or tagging but hope I can say slightly different now.
Like the way Sutherland Shire Library have used tag cloud and Cleveland have put tags on their books for use in research and also creating bookmarks. I hope the link to my Del.iciou.us account works - World events guide & travel inspiration Http:www.whatsonwhen.com/sisp/index.htm.
At the time of looking at Technorati using key word and advanced search for"bookmobile" the result was the same 775 hits. Could not find any search result for nswpln2008 - must be doing something wrong.
I like Library Thing and would be happy to use it. I have created an account and put 5 of my favourite books on it but can't see how to link it to my blog.
Still learning.
